Breaking the silence: A discussion on the importance of sex education and sexuality in the 21st Century
MGD conducted its first virtual discussion on the importance of sex education and sexuality in schools in the 21st Century on 18 July 2020. There were four teams of students five students each from classes 9-12. The students presented different and varied perspectives on how sex education is not only about physical anatomy but also about life skills like respect, consent, and body autonomy. They also presented stories and instances of how a lack of sex education can lead to confusion, frustration, and fear in the minds of students. Principal ma'am congratulated the organizers for conducting the discussion and to the students for presenting such insightful views on the topic. Our Guest Speaker Mrs. Aaradhana Mahlawat also commended the students on how confidently they presented their views on the issue. She also gave individual feedback to every participant, moreover, she emphasized on speaking about such issues in school is much needed to change the mindset of the society.
