Workshop on "How to Make School Experiences More Meaningful and Effective"

Resource-person- Ms Cherry Goyal, Cambridge and Cultural Coordinator, MGD Girls’ School Jaipur

On 24th March 2025, a workshop was held to explore strategies for making school experiences more meaningful and effective. The resource-person was Ms Cherry Goyal, Cambridge and Cultural Coordinator. The workshop focused on interactive teaching methods and creative approaches that can improve student participation and learning outcomes. Teachers were divided into groups of 5-6 members, encouraging collaboration and exchange of ideas. Each group was tasked with working on specific topics related to school activities that could be enhanced for greater impact, for example, house assembly, class assembly, substitution periods, remedial classes. The primary goal was to develop a “recipe” or a set of strategies for each topic that would make the sessions more engaging, effective, and meaningful for students. The groups were encouraged to think outside the box and incorporate creativity into their ideas. For example: the group which got ‘zero period’ as topic created a recipe of Cassata ‘Zero period’ ice-cream. To begin with, they justified their choice as the shape of the ice-cream is similar to zero. Furthermore, just like there are layers of flavours in Cassata, they suggested multifarious activities like open mic, quiz, conducting talks with students etc, to keep the students engaged. Each group developed creative ideas, including play-based methods, student-led activities, open mic sessions, peda-games, and group learning. Suggestions like thematic assemblies, peer recognition, mindfulness exercises, and collaborative projects were also proposed.

Overall, the workshop emphasized the importance of student engagement, creativity, and the integration of innovative techniques to make school experiences more effective and enjoyable. The suggestions provided are expected to be implemented in the coming months to further enhance the overall learning environment at the school.
