MGD Girls’ School Mun club organised a two day training session on 23rd and 24th of October 2024 for classes VI and VII. The resource persons for the same were Radhika Das and Zainah Choudhary, both coming back to their alma mater, sparing their valuable time to share their knowledge. This 2-day session was followed by a mock MUN session.
DAY 1 - 23 October 2024
The students learned about the structure and functioning of the United Nations. They also got a gist about world politics, current affairs and the importance of the UN in maintaining peace. All students identified and marked all the Permanent 5 Nations of the Security Council. All in all, the students gained global awareness that will help them in all walks of life.
DAY 2 - 24 October 2024
After learning about the United Nations, the students learnt about what an MUN is and how it functions. They got to know about the Rules of Procedures as well as how to research for MUNs. At the end of the session, the students made their plaque cards for their mock session their following day. In conclusion, the students were ready and keen to take part in future MUNs.
DAY 3 - 25 October 2024
After their 2-day session, the students were enthusiastic about taking part in their intra-class mock MUN session. All students were prepared with their portfolios and agendas and active participation was witnessed from each and every student.
To sum it up, this 2-day training session and the mock MUN session helped the students in gaining hands-on experience of an MUN, making them more ready and less hesitant to participate in MUNs.
