Renowned author and historian Dr. Brian A. Catlos graced MGD Girls’ School with his presence as a part of Jaipur Literature Festival Author Outreach Program on the 2nd of February 2024, creating an engaging and inspiring atmosphere during an interactive session with the students. The session aimed at fostering a deeper appreciation for literature and providing students with a unique opportunity to connect with a celebrated literary figure.

Dr. Brian A. Catlos is widely recognized for his contributions towards the emerging field of medieval studies. He has published a number of books which center on Muslim-Christian-Jewish relations and ethno-religious identity in medieval Europe and the Islamic world, and the history of pre-modern Mediterranean. Amongst the attendees were the Chief Administrative Officer Colonel S. S. Sangwan Sena medal bar, Vice Principal Mrs Pramendra Khangarot, coordinators, teachers and students.

The session began with Dr Catlos describing his own interesting journey of venturing into the realm of Mediterranean medieval history and pursuing it for the sheer love of people. As the session furthered, his optimistic and refreshing perspective towards the middle ages not only engrossed the students but also had them intrigued about careers in history, literature and medieval studies. The students admired the wisdom and insights brought by Dr Brian and took away the message of making the world a better place by consciously choosing peace over conflict.
