Singapore Virtual Exchange Program: Indian School Immersion
“On the voyage of virtual exchange, we find the treasures of knowledge.”
Our esteemed institution, Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School, was invited to be a part of the Virtual Overseas Learning program by the Punggol Secondary School, Singapore. The program aimed to develop national and cultural identity through active citizenship and global awareness, while utilizing Virtual platform to provide authentic learning experiences of each other’s cultural practices.
The virtual interaction took place on 24 October 2023 from 8:00 a.m to 9:30 a.m IST. The students of Classes 8 E and 8 F were a part of this enriching session.
The event started with our school team giving the other students glimpses of our nation, followed by our pink city, Jaipur and later with videos on our Founder Maharani Gayatri Devi ji and a virtual tour of our institute.
Afterwards, the total strength of 78 participants were divided in 9 breakout rooms where the Punggol Secondary team presented various presentations on topics like: Life as a teenager and the challenges they face, Festivals they celebrate, Exploring Singapore, their research on India etc.
The students from both the schools actively engaged in meaningful conversations, where the curious minds asked questions related to the school life, the co- curricular activities, hobbies, future dreams etc. The event came to an end with an amusing escape room game, in which, we had to solve the clues given to reach the destination.
The virtual exchange program helped the students to develop a broader world view, enhancing our inter-cultural competence and communication skills. They also gained insights into the education system and daily life in Singapore.
