A one day Symposia was organised by Indian Society Of Remote Sensing Jaipur Chapter and Birla Institute Technology Mesra on 16th August 23 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary Of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai who is regarded as Father of Indian Space Programme on the topic “ New Space Policy and Emerging Trends in Remote Sensing”.A team of 21 students along with their Geography teacher Dr Rashmi Pareek from Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls' School participated in the event. Dr K.M Joshi began the session by enlightening the students from the life excerpts of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and the association of his Birth Anniversary being celebrated as Remote Sensing Day. Further, Dr B.K Singh provided the students with an insight about satellite imaging, and the 7 elements of Remote Sensing. He also briefed about application of Remote Sensing in the fields of Agriculture, Climate, Disasters, Urban Planning, Rural Development, Defense and various fields of Geography. Overall the conference helped students to gain knowledge about Remote Sensing and Aerial photo interpretation.
