The FILMIT Workshop was conducted by The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) on 31st July 2023 at Neerja Modi School, Jaipur. Students and escort teachers from sixteen schools of Jaipur participated in the workshop. Ms Purnima Dutt, Principal Director, (HECS) INTACH welcomed Dharmendra Kanwar ji, Convenor INTACH Jaipur Chapter and Mr Sandeep Sethi. The resource persons for the workshop were Mr Ankit Pogula and Ms Himanshi Saini from Tuning Fork Films.
Ms Purnima Dutt introduced the participants to tenets of Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS). She apprised the participants regarding conservation initiatives and involvement of over 4000 schools across India partnering to be harbinger of change. She then briefed about Filmit Themes for the year 2023.
Two short films from the previous year project were screened, Sandookdi by DAV Public School, Ambala and Empty Bottle by J B Academy, Ayodhya. Mr Ankit Pogula interacted with the participants to share their observations and inspiration drawn from the screened films. He touched upon nuances and stages of short film making. Ms Himanshi Saini explained different types of camera shots and angles to create an impact. Mr Ankit highlighted the importance of sound quality and ways to record good quality sound. The resource persons then showed the best way to edit the film using editing software. Participants were also given activity to practice different shots during break time. Ms Purnima Dutt thanked Tuning Fork Films team for their active involvement. She also inspired the participants by narrating Ms Himanshi’s association with INTACH since her school days as Filmit student. She appreciated MGD Girls’ School for their enthusiastic involvement over the years.
The workshop was attended by six students from Class VII and VIII, Gargi Khosla, Meher Bhatia, Trisha Sukhtankar, Gunita Verma, Sanvi Agarwal and Prakriti Bhalla. They were escorted by FILMIT Club in-charges Ms Asha Laungani and Ms Neetu Mathur. It was an enriching experience for the participants and will be helpful in working on themes for filmmaking.
