AQUATIC MEET 2022

Exuberance filled the ambience of the swimming pool of MGD Girls’ School on 22nd of July as the Aquatic Meet began, offline after two years. The participants were all in high spirits. The inspiring words of Colonel SS Sangwan made MGD swimmers leave no stone unturned to live up to his words. There were nine events on the first day which saw neck and neck competition in all houses, raising the thrill and ecstasy among the audience . Our very talented swimmers made it up for the last 2 years in just one day with their beyond imagination performance. The synchronized swimming performance by the MGD swimming team marked the end of day 1, swimming bonanza. “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but it’s about learning to dance in the rain…” With the rain showers adding to the exuberance and verve in the atmosphere, the morning of Day 2 of the Inter-House Aquatic Meet 2022 started on a zealous note. The day witnessed 13 electrifying events with the participants smashing records and each of them giving their best shot at the various strokes. The 200m Freestyle for seniors, 100m Individual Medley in junior category. 50 m butterfly in the senior category. The swimming enthusiasts from the prep section, proved their mettle in the 25m freestyle kicking. Some of the events were: 25m freestyle in the senior category. 25m back stroke in the junior category. 25m back stroke (senior category). 25m freestyle (junior category). 50m breast stroke in the senior category. 25m butterfly in the junior category. The budding prep swimmers, showcased exceptional teamwork in the 4*25 m Relay. Yet another example of exemplary teamwork was set by participants of the in the 4*50m Free style relay (junior category). The 4*50m medley relay saw the seniors vying for the top spots. It was yet another day that was abuzz with the boisterous cheers of the audience. The showstopper of the day was indeed the synchronised swimming performance by the MGD swimming team. The stellar morning thus culminated in a wave of enthusiasm, exuberance and great performances. The chief guest was Ms Yashwani Suhag an Alumni from Modern School, Barakhamba Road. She has been a SGFI National medalist for four consecutive years. She has been the IPSC best swimmer for three years. An Excellent Sports person, whose presence was most befitting the occasion. She has almost 40 medals to her credit. The Principal Mrs Archana S Mankotia, gave away the prizes and blessed the girls for putting up a great show. She appreciated the coordinated efforts of the Entire Sports Department. Florence Nightingale House won the Running Trophy for Inter House Aquatic meet 2022. Tejaswini Sharma of Sarojini Naidu House won the Best Swimmer Award.
