The first ever-virtual workshop on the importance of medicinal plants was hosted by MGD Girls’ School in collaboration with the Forest Department, Government of Rajasthan on 13th July, 2021 with an aim to promote the state Government’s ambitious scheme “Ghar Ghar Aushadhi Yojana”. Deputy Head Girl, Aashna Arora introduced the speakers for the event, Mr. Deep Narayan Pandey and Ms. Shailaja Deval. Mr. Deep Narayan Pandey, PCCF (Development) and Chairperson, Rajasthan State Biodiversity Board has been a member of the Indian Forest Service for 38 years. Ms. Shailaja Deval is the Additional Director, Rajasthan Forestry and Wildlife training Institute, Jaipur. Beginning with a peace mantra, Miss Shailaja delivered a well curated talk on the Importance of Medicinal Plants and the History of Ayurveda as practised in India since ages. Ms Shailaja mentioned that Ayurveda is not just about concoctions and further explained in detail the benefits of 4 plants, namely Tulsi, Giloy, Kalmegh and Ashwagandha. This scheme aims to provide these 4 plants to all households of Rajasthan . At the end Principal, Mrs Archana S Mankotia addressed the gathering and emphasized on how, through this event the younger generation will take interest and will realise the importance of the Ayurvedic system.
